Russian crt upholds dismissal of another claim vs Domodedovo owner
MOSCOW, Aug 5 (PRIME) -- The Basmanny District Court of Moscow confirmed legality of a refusal by investigators to initiate a criminal case against the owner of Moscow’s Domodedovo Dmitry Kamenshchik over a terrorist attack in 2004 on Friday.
On August 24, 2004, two jets departing from Domodedovo crashed due to terrorist attacks, killing 90 people.
Kamenshchik was put under home arrest on February 19 under an earlier criminal case to punish people whose inaction could have caused a terrorist attack in the building of the airport in 2011. The businessman was released from arrest earlier in July. Prosecutors said earlier that Kamenshchik was not guilty of the 2011 events.
The Investigative Committee turned down a claim by relatives of the 2004 attack victims against Kamenchshik in July.
Three people were earlier sentenced to jail for the 2004 crashes, a ticket fraudster who sold tickets for the planes to suicide terrorists, a security officer of Domodedovo and an employee of Siberia Airlines who helped the terrorists to check in for the flights with fake tickets.
Igor Trunov, lawyer for the claimants, said that he will contest the Basmanny court’s decision.
